Shaping our Future

Shaping our Future is a collaborative project between Cape Metro and West Coast Museums and the Africa Unite School Club programme. The project aims to engage youth younger than 25 years in developing a vision for the City of Cape Town and the West Coast and to explore ways in which they can contribute to realising that vision.

Though the main activities take place in Youth Month (June), the programme runs throughout the year and consists of workshops, webinars and social media campaigns.

Each year, a different theme is selected:

  • 2022: Safe and sustainable communities

  • 2021: Kyk/Jonga/Look: Showcasing communities through the eyes of the youth  

  • 2020: Youth voices in the time of Covid-19
