Ernestine White-Mifetu

On 8 October 2018 Ernestine White-Mifetu was elected Chairperson of the Cape Town Museum’s Management Committee. Ernestine is currently the Curator of Contemporary Art at the Iziko South African Gallery. She is also an independent artist exhibiting in national and international exhibitions. Her experience within the arts and culture sector spans a period of 15 years. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art (cum laude) from the State University of New York, a Master Printer degree in Fine Art Lithography from the Tamarind Institute in New Mexico, a Master’s degree in Fine Art from Michaelis School of Fine Art in Cape Town and an Honours in Curatorship form the University of the Cape Town’s Michaelis School of Fine Art.

White was recently appointed as a member of the National Arts Festivals Artistic Committee, which contributes to the selection of Standard Bank Young Artist Award winners and also the development of the visual arts programme at the Makhanda Art Festival. She concurrently holds the position of Deputy Chairperson for the Artistic Committee.
